Snoop Dogg impersonator was seen walking around NFT.NYC
The impersonator Doop Snogg was hired to “create excitement” at the NFT NYC conference.
A man dressed as hip-hop legend Snopp Dogg went around NFT NYC to get things going at the nonfungible token event. While the intention was to add some fun to the conference, the online community had mixed feelings.
Kevin Collier tweeted about his encounter with the imposter Snoop Dogg in Times Square. According to Collier, the man dressed as the well-known rapper was not Snoop Dogg, but rather an impersonator hired to “create excitement.” Collier went on to say that the experience “feels like a metaphor,” alluding to the copyright issues that surround NFTs.
Regiscake, a Twitter user, shared a photo of the phony Snoop Dogg wearing a VIP nametag that read “Doop Snogg”:
While Doop Snogg was present to increase excitement for the event, not everyone was pleased. The move was criticized by Redditor u/Synthpop, who pointed out that NFTs have fake art, fake hype, and a fake Snoop. “So far, everything is on brand,” they wrote.
